Whats going on at AC
Ride nights
Road
In the spring, summer, and early fall there is a group of road cyclist that meet at the shop every Tuesday and Thursday night at 5pm for the A group, and 5:30 for the B group. The group had been meeting every Tuesday and Thursday for many years at the Court House here in town, but in the spring of 2011 we got together and talked about them leaving from the shop, we were thrilled to have these guys meeting in front of the shop to ride. So if you're in the area and looking for a ride check it out. For 2012 we have taken some feedback provided and we have made sure to have a ride leader for the 5:30 ride.
Beyond the group rides there are endless miles of road riding in the area. 2012 will see the first year of demo and rental road bikes. We are excited to offer this service, we are working at the moment to have routes ready to send people off on a ride of many different levels and ride types. 2012 will also see the 2nd year of the Warren Adventures cycling team, and Pinegrove Transmission cycling team, both of which we sponsor. Good luck to them, and have fun.
Mtb
In the spring, summer and early fall, we also offer a beginner friendly MTB ride in Heart's Content. We meet at the Heart's Content scenic parking lot at 6pm. The ride pace is designed for the beginner mountain biker in mind. We ride a 6mile Loop along the Tanbark Trail and the Tom's Run cross country ski trails. This is a very casual not a race ride, however advanced riders are not discouraged, there are other routes that can be ridden, and we can split into groups. There is a trail system to the north of us by 30 minutes in Gerry NY that has a little more as far as mileage, (facebook page for Harris Hill Ext will let you know when they ride). Also check out the Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Association (N.A.M.B.A.) website for info on rides and goings on in the world of mountain biking.
Speaking of the Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Association let's take a minute to talk about the good things happening here in the Allegheny National Forest. The mountain bike club has paired with I.M.B.A. (International Mountain Bike Association), the P.K.P. (Pennsylvania Kinzua Pathways), and the U.S. Forest Service to bring a world class mountain bike trail system to the A.N.F. (Allegheny National Forest). There are 42 miles or so of flagged trail, so far 80,000 dollars has been raised by N.A.M.B.A, and P.K.P. to fund this project. The U.S. Forest service is in the study phase of the project, and the organizations are entering the fund raising stages. The money raised will go to build the trail's.If your interested in donations, or how to help please contact us.
